The Apple Lane Western Log Cabin is the most stunning choice for guests looking for a "western-cowboy" getaway. Sleeps up to 10 in beds including the futon in the living room. This is a Genuine hand hewn log cabin in its own forest with peace and solitude! You will LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!

When you first drive up to the cabin, you will think you have arrived at an oasis in the desert where there’s a main cabin and a small additional cabin which is not included but is available for an additional fee. Lush grass and leafy trees (you may help yourself to the Plum, Peach, and Apple fruit trees) keep the property cool and inviting on even a warm day. During the evening you can see deer on the property enjoying the grass and fruit that has dropped from the trees. The main cabin is an authentic log cabin with modern amenities, you will feel like you stepped back in time to the old west when you lift the latch and walk into the cabin.

Vaulted ceilings with skylights bring light into the rooms making it warm and inviting in both lofts as well as the main level. There are traditional (decorative only!) wood burning stoves beautifully restored in both the cabin and the cottage as well as an oil chandelier (please don’t attempt to light, for decoration only!) with traditional western décor throughout.

When you step into the kitchen, however it’s all modern amenities with a large modern refrigerator and gas stove along with all the kitchen appliances you could want, crock pot, coffee makers, juicers, bread maker, etc. that provide you with all the amenities of home. A modern washer and dryer along with a water softening system ensures that you will have clean and fresh clothes along with a very pleasant shower.

Stepping outside there’s a Jenn Air grill on the porch that you can cook on while the kids play in the beautifully landscape yard with incredibly soft grass. It’s hard to imagine a more perfect family location for a vacation that is centrally located to all the area has to offer. The adjacent cabin is perfect for a couple who want to be along or for those who want to retire early in the evening or just want some quiet time away from the group. The cottage has a large queen size bed and is tastefully decorated but note that the cottage does not have water or bathroom, electricity only and it can only be booked with the main cabin for an additional charge of $89, note that it is not included with the rental of the main cabin you have to request it be added.

When it’s time for bed, there is a large master suite with a queen size bed, along with another queen size futon bed in the main loft, plus a pair of twin beds in the second loft that will leave you waking up rested and ready for the day. Add in the queen size bed in the adjacent cottage and you will have sleeping accommodations for the largest of families. When you get back from your days adventures you will be able to spend relaxing evenings reading books from the well-stocked library or watching movies from the large DVD collection. The entire experience staying here will make you want to come back time and time again before you have even left!

Guided Horse Rides are available nearby for an additional fee, as are ATV Rentals and River Trips.

Jens Nielson was a religious emigrant from the island of Laaland, Denmark. He, along with his family, emigrated to the United States in 1856 and joined the ill-fated Willie Handcart Company headed for the Salt Lake Valley. The company was struck by an early winter and suffered many fatalities due to cold and starvation. Among the dead was his only son Jens (age six) and Bodil Mortenson a young girl that was traveling with the family. After reaching the Salt Lake Valley, Jens founded several communities in southern Utah including Cedar City and Bluff. Where he built this beautiful rock house that is now fully upgraded with modern amenities to make your stay more enjoyable.

A Most Fascinating and Beautiful Place

Venture out from Moab around to the Colorado side of the La Sal Mountains, 14 miles from Utah Highway 191 on Utah Route 46, to discover the untrammeled side of the La Sal Mountains and a lodging company and animal sanctuary engulfed in abundant peace and quiet that defies definition.

It is, all at once, a lodge, rental cabins, a massage therapy center, and an animal sanctuary. A most fascinating and beautiful place indeed.
The Animal Sanctuary and Healing center is a comprehensive center that includes healing for people, animals, and the land. The Animal Sanctuary component is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping injured, special needs, abandoned and unwanted animals. We provide love, shelter, and care for 'all animals under the sun'.

The animals that find their way to this Animal Sanctuary are nurtured, brought back to health and in turn put up for adoption if and when possible. The others that are too handicapped or sick to be let out, remain at the sanctuary under close loving care.

Tours and Volunteering: We offer tours and volunteer opportunities to work with the animals at the center. For further information please connect with us before your arrival or speak with us when you are here. You will love this place!

The La Sal Mountain Lodge is located on the southeastern slope of The La Sal Mountains (just 30 minutes southeast of Moab). A hidden alpine wonder, providing breathtaking scenery, spectacular views, and affordable lodging for couples, reunions, groups, or retreats.

The Animal Sanctuary and Healing center is an integrated center of Healing. We believe in looking at the totality of life. The plants, the animals, the land and the humans are inseparable. What befalls one effects the other. We hold that we are here to learn with all life through the spirit that is manifest upon the earth. We believe that true deep healing arises out of the knowledge of this integration.

All those visiting the center and staying in the lodgings are invited to participate in all or any of the components of the center, be it Shamanic Work, Plant Medicine, Animal Healing through contact, Lomi Lomi Massage, and one on one or group healing.

What sets this Animal Sanctuary apart is our willingness to accept and take care of special needs animals, most of whom would be put to sleep otherwise. In addition to providing homes for neglected and abandoned animals, it also provides homes for some of the more severely handicapped animals that many sanctuaries are just not willing or equipped to deal with.

In caring for these animals we not only give them life but a quality of life that is filled with love. It is amazing and gratifying to watch the spirits and bodies of these animals blossom as the right environment is provided for them. It is equally amazing to witness the healing that these animals, in turn, provide for some of the people that come through the center. These animals often, just by their being and through their stories, open a sense of hope for people. These animals are living examples of thriving against the odds and in this way, can lead injured human souls out of their own despair.

The animals that find their way to this Animal Sanctuary, are nurtured, brought back to health, and in turn put up for adoption if and when possible. The others that are too handicapped or sick to be let out, remain at the sanctuary under close loving care.

Tours and Volunteering: We offer tours and volunteer opportunities to work with the animals at the center. For further information please connect with us before your arrival, or speak with us when you are here. You will love this place!

Moab/South Area (Central to Arches and Canyonlands) - Wolf Springs Ranch
The Wolf Springs Family Cabin is stunning with modern amenities yet still very western! Some of the highlights are a very nice commercial kitchen, a beautiful dining Room, the loft with fireman's pole, and of course the impressive night sky views.

Get ready for your off-grid adventure! This cabin is located on the La Sal Mountains just 45 miles away from downtown Moab. With room for 4 people, this is a great cabin to enjoy everything Moab has to offer while staying away from the crowds. This cabin sits in the trees on the La Sal Mountains and is perfect for couples or families that love to see the sites but want to be away from it all. There is plenty of space to kick back and relax, or if you want to explore, hiking to the fully stocked trout\steelhead pond in the valley below or on the 4 miles of trails through the canyon along the creek. You are welcome to fish in the pond without needing a fishing license, but only using barb less hooks and catch and release.

Come relax and enjoy the complete solitude while watching wildlife roam around the 100 acres of forest and trees surrounding the cabin. Then start up a campfire and enjoy telling stories late into the night while viewing the vivid night sky. Later head inside to the 4-bedroom cabin with all of the amenities needed for a great stay including a fully equipped kitchen is ready to cook up those delicious meals that you can eat while taking in the stunning views!

You will LOVE the amazing Tree House available for your use, 30 feet in the air which offers truly spectacular views!! With downtown Moab a short drive away, you are never going to run out of things to do while staying here. This cabin is situated central to Arches and Canyonlands/Needles National Parks along with many other local attractions. Also, there are ATV and Mountain Biking trails in the area that are accessible from the ranch.

And during your stay you will likely see our ranch dog Leah who wanders the ranch keeping an eye on things and will be checking in on you periodically and will try her best to wheedle a munchie from you.

The power for the cabin is provided by solar so please, no curling irons or blow dryers. Electric frying pans and crocks pots won’t be available as well. And please be aware that as part of your off-grid experience at times there might be power outages as weather conditions or other issues might cause problems with the system. These problems are rare and are usually quickly resolved, with backup generators available if necessary.

As mentioned, cell phone service is limited in this area, but it might be possible to make calls at various locations on the ranch depending on your carrier. Verizon seems to be the best carrier option and you can usually get a decent signal at the gate to the resort just a short distance from the cabins. Because of our remote location, we do not offer WiFi or Cable. Also, be aware that you will need to drive up a gravel road of about 4 miles after turning off the highway and then drive up a dirt road less than a mile to the cabins. Most cars can handle the drive with no problems, 4wd is not necessary however cars with low clearances are not recommended and conditions will vary after rains and snows.

Additional cabins are available on the same ranch if you have friends or family that would like to join you.
