Property Details

Secluded Mountain Retreat with 1 large family lodge and 5 small Cabins nestled near a wooded canyon in the La Sal Mountains, spectacular views of 3 mountain ranges, and breathtaking starry skies at night. Surrounded by National Forest lands, just 45 minutes from Moab and located near 12 famous destinations including Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, several national monuments and state parks, and the Colorado River.
Rustic yet modern, secluded yet civilized, comfortable yet adventurous, Wolf Springs Ranch Retreat is off-grid, surrounded by forests and is home to many wildlife species, large and small, eagles, hawks, and the occasional cow that wanders through. Hiking, horseback riding with a professional wrangler, mountain biking, fishing, bird watching, photography, and other activities can be done on the premises. OHV trails, challenging mountain trails, rivers, lakes, streams, rock climbing, national parks and monuments, museums and other recreational opportunities are just a short drive away.
Please take note that there are no outside fire pits for the individual cabins, only the lodge. The Family Lodge and Cabins 1, 2 and 3 are pet friendly and we allow up to two dogs per party. We do not allow pets in cabins 4 and 5 so we may accommodate those guests with allergies. Firewood for the fire pit at the lodge is available for $5 for a large bucket. The firewood is located near the entrance of the retreat, and per the honor system, you can drop your cash in the metal box provided. Please return buckets to the firewood area when you are through. Please note that the power for the Lodge and cabins is provided by environmentally friendly solar power so please, no curling irons or blow dryers or other high demand electrical devices. And please be aware that as part of your off-grid experience at times there might be power outages as weather conditions or other issues might cause problems with the system. These problems are rare and are usually quickly resolved, backup generators are available if necessary.

On site catering is available, feel free to request a sample menu by emailing us at Info@CanyonlandsLodging.com

Cell phone service is limited in this area, but it might be possible to make calls at various locations on the ranch depending on your carrier. Verizon seems to be the best carrier option and you can usually get a decent signal at the gate to the resort just a short distance from the cabins. Also, be aware that you will need to drive up a gravel road of about 4 miles after turning off the highway and then drive up a dirt road less than a mile to the cabins. Most cars can handle the drive with no problems, 4wd is not necessary however cars with low clearances are not recommended and conditions will vary after rains and snows.

During your stay you will likely see our ranch dog Leah who wanders the ranch keeping an eye on things and will be checking in on you periodically and will try her best to wheedle a munchie from you.

The family lodge features a large kitchen with 2 large refrigerator/freezers, commercial stove top and ovens, open Dining Room and huge family table, great room, TV with DVD player, 2 full bathrooms with showers and 1 luxurious soaker tub, 5 bedrooms (4 queen beds, 1 full-size roll away), 5 twin beds in the loft, and sleeping pads by request. We do not provide linens for loft beds or sleeping pads, so bring your own blankets or sleeping bags and pillows. Perfect for family reunions and celebrations, the family lodge has 2 outdoor grills, and 3 walk-out decks for outdoor dining and relaxing. Pet friendly, up to 2 dogs.
Cabin 1 (sleeps up to 8 when booked with the bunkhouse, 4 on its own) is surrounded by large Ponderosa pines and features a fully equipped and stocked kitchen, comfy living area, wood stove for heat during the cool months, 1 bedroom with 1 queen bed, large soaker tub, shower, walk-out deck with picnic table and chairs and charcoal grill, and an adjacent bunkhouse that sleeps 4. The bunkhouse has 2 bunk beds and 1 queen bed. Bring your blankets or sleeping bags and pillows for the bunkhouse they are not provided. Pet friendly, up to 2 dogs.

Cabins 2 and 3 (sleep up to 4 each) also feature fully equipped and stocked kitchens, comfy living areas, wood stoves, bedrooms with queen beds, large soaker tubs and showers, and walk-out decks with table and chairs and charcoal grills. Cabins 1, 2, and 3 are a short walk from our unique tree patio which is 20 feet up in an immense Ponderosa pine tree, and our private catch & release fishing pond. Pet friendly, up to 2 dogs.

Cabins 4 and 5 (sleep 4 each) feature a modern design touch, queen beds and large couches that double as queen roll-away beds, large bathrooms with showers, fully equipped and stocked kitchens, walk-out decks with table and chairs and charcoal grills, and they overlook the entire retreat with spectacular 360-degree views. No pets allowed.

And there’s more! Wolf Springs Ranch Retreat is adding additional features this year that will keep you coming back time and time for years to come.

Trail rides on horseback are available at Wolf Springs Ranch Retreat. They will take you through the beautiful forest surrounding Wolf Springs Ranch Retreat where you will enjoy wildlife, native plants and spectacular vistas. A trained horseman will be your guide as you ride atop your choice of gentle saddle horses. Trail rides are approximately 1.5 hours and include a break mid-way to stretch your legs and take photos. Reserve your ride in advance. $75 per rider. Children’s rides are available for $20 (15 minutes). A trained wrangler will lead the horse around a pen for a safe and child-friendly experience.

We are also offering guided hikes of picturesque Hangdog Canyon, which is adjacent to the cabins. The hikes are not strenuous and are appropriate for most healthy individuals, are approximately 3 miles round trip and will take approximately 2.5 hours including a break for lunch. (4 adult minimum in each group, $30.00 each, children under 8 are free) Bagged lunches available upon request for $12 per adult and $8 for children’s portions. They include sandwich, chips, fresh veggies, cookie or brownie and a water and soft drink or juice.

And coming soon, ATV rides with our partners from Moab will let you drive directly from downtown Moab to our resort and explore the area!

And even more exciting an event barn that can host up to 150 guests! This will be a full service facility that will be available for events like weddings, family reunions, corporate retreats etc. We anticipate that this will be on line late this summer of 2020.

Great space and location by Frederick 11/10/2019
Great space and location! We rented the lodge and several cabins for our family reunion and it was perfect. I highly recommend, and we hope to stay again someday!
Spectacular Views by Santhosh 09/14/2019
Spectacular views, especially during sunrise and sunsets and great night sky views too. Unique decor, books and musical instruments and other artifacts. A little difficult to access the rooms downstairs for the elderly since the spiral staircase is a bit narrow and you have to watch your head. Good mid way point to Arches, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley. Delicious home made pancake mix for one breakfast. Had everything we needed to spend a full week with family and grandparents. Unique and beautiful house. Would love to go back again.
One of the best places we have stayed! by Benson 08/11/2019
Almost an hour away from Moab, off the electricity grid and no internet.still one of the best places we have stayed. This solar powered property with milky way ciewing at night and fully equipped kitchen and game room, hiking trail and pond, deers roaming around was a paradise dor 24 of us. Great wat to enjoy each other and nature!Sont worry, we had enough power at night for two refrigerators and lights !
New Family Reunion Spot by Nicholas 06/28/2018
We loved the Wolf Springs Ranch Family Lodge. There was plenty of space for us all and the area was beautiful, quiet, and offered great starry skies at night. We enjoyed taking walks down to the pond to see fish and frogs, sitting on the deck watching clouds pass over the mountain, and making our meals in the large kitchen. The hosts were friendly and more than accommodating. We may have found a permanent location for our annual family reunion!
We loved our stay by Marci Madrigal 09/11/2017
We loved our stay at Wolf Springs! The cabin was clean, the scenery is beautiful and Jerry made it very easy.
Amazing Place by Mo 07/10/2017
“Amazing place for anyone look to get out away and into the fresh air. Beautiful location, can't beat the La Sals. And watching the sun set on Big Tuk every night made the stay. The property can accommodate big and small groups, this place is a gem. I highly recommend it. ”

Mo’s private feedback for you:

“We had an amazing stay, thank you so much!”
a perfect getaway by Sara Sinclair 06/19/2017
The Wolf Springs cabin was gorgeous and we wished we could have stayed an extra night! Jerry was very responsive to all our questions and the driving directions were spot on. We enjoyed being away from cell service and without wifi to relax and hang out for the evening. The cabin had a nice open air floor plan (FYI: if you are staying as a group of friends - the bathroom is in the bedroom and only the toilet has a door). The deck was gorgeous and a perfect place for morning coffee and an evening beer. This place would be a perfect getaway for a couple or a family of 4
Beautiful cabin with beautiful views by Michaelyn 06/16/2017
Very secluded and beautiful area. The stars at night were gorgeous. Be prepared for no wifi and very limited cell service (at this particular cabin). We really enjoyed our stay as an extended family. Beautiful cabin with beautiful views. You'll fight over who gets the beautiful master bedroom in the lodge.
perfect cabin in the mountains by Matt 06/14/2017
The Wolf Springs Cabin is the perfect cabin in the mountains for two! The views of the surrounding forest and snow-capped mountains in the distance are amazing from the deck and the house is so cozy inside with lots of wood and a wood burning stove (with lots of firewood at the ready). The inside is simple but has all the necessities (open kitchen and sitting area, bedroom with a queen sized bed with a great wooden bed frame, and bathroom with a separate tub, toilette, and shower). The location is remote and once you're there you won't have internet access. Neighborhood cows like to walk along the dirt path leading to the cabin and check out the visitors.
I would definitely love to come back and stay longer by Bailey 06/13/2017
These Wolf springs cabins are quaint and so beautiful. Tucked back in the wilderness you would never guess they were there! We only stayed for one night but I would definitely love to come back and stay longer. Beautiful homes!
views were amazing by Ken 06/13/2017
“We really enjoyed our stay at the Wolf Springs cabin. It had everything you would need and the views were amazing. Jerry was quick to respond whenever we reached out. I definitely would stay here again"
We loved it! by Joel H 06/02/2017
If you want a secluded get away this is it! Bring what you need as nothing is close. All you will hear is the birds and the wind through the trees. VERY private! A real nice new cabin, with wood burning stove and all the comforts you would need. We loved it!
perfect spot for anyone by Linda A 05/29/2017
We really enjoyed our stay at the Wolf Springs cabin. It is in a beautiful spot on a secluded mountain top. The cabin is comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed. It has a large deck with a grill. It was nice to take a walk in the woods. It is the perfect spot for anyone wanting to get away.
Will come again by Adrian 05/24/2017
