Property Details

The Wolf Springs Family Cabin is stunning with modern amenities yet still very western! Some of the highlights are a very nice commercial kitchen, a beautiful dining room, the loft with a fireman's pole, and of course the impressive night sky views.

Get ready for your off-grid adventure! This cabin is located on the La Sal Mountains just 45 miles away from downtown Moab. With room for 4 people, this is a great cabin to enjoy everything Moab has to offer while staying away from the crowds. This cabin sits in the trees on the La Sal Mountains and is perfect for couples or families that love to see the sites but want to be away from it all. There is plenty of space to kick back and relax, or if you want to explore, hiking to the fully stocked trout\steelhead pond in the valley below or on the 4 miles of trails through the canyon along the creek. You are welcome to fish in the pond without needing a fishing license, but only using barbless hooks and catch and release.

Come relax and enjoy the complete solitude while watching wildlife roam around the 100 acres of forest and trees surrounding the cabin. Then start up a campfire and enjoy telling stories late into the night while viewing the vivid night sky. Later head inside to the 4-bedroom cabin with all of the amenities needed for a great stay including a fully equipped kitchen is ready to cook up those delicious meals that you can eat while taking in the stunning views!

You will LOVE the amazing Tree House available for your use, 30 feet in the air which offers truly spectacular views!! With downtown Moab a short drive away, you are never going to run out of things to do while staying here. This cabin is situated central to Arches and Canyonlands/Needles National Parks along with many other local attractions. Also, there are ATV and Mountain Biking trails in the area that are accessible from the ranch.

And during your stay, you will likely see our ranch dog Leah who wanders the ranch keeping an eye on things and will be checking in on you periodically and will try her best to wheedle a munchie from you.

The power for the cabin is provided by solar so please, no curling irons or blow dryers. Electric frying pans and crocks pots won’t be available as well. And please be aware that as part of your off-grid experience at times there might be power outages as weather conditions or other issues might cause problems with the system. These problems are rare and are usually quickly resolved, with backup generators available if necessary.

As mentioned, cell phone service is limited in this area, but it might be possible to make calls at various locations on the ranch depending on your carrier. Verizon seems to be the best carrier option and you can usually get a decent signal at the gate to the resort just a short distance from the cabins. Because of our remote location, we do not offer WiFi or Cable. Also, be aware that you will need to drive up a gravel road of about 4 miles after turning off the highway and then drive up a dirt road less than a mile to the cabins. Most cars can handle the drive with no problems, 4wd is not necessary however cars with low clearances are not recommended and conditions will vary after rains and snow.

Mountain Joe's Trail Rides is on the premises of Wolf Springs Ranch Retreat. Real western-style horseback rides are available Monday through Saturday. Please make your reservations ahead of time by calling (435) 287-4498 or emailing
Special rates apply for guests of Wolf Springs Ranch Retreat. Rides guided by a professional wrangler are approximately 1 1/2 hours. You will love the stunning mountain scenery, and our horses are gentle and responsive. We are fully insured and have protective equipment available for those who wish to use it. Go to for more details.

Additional cabins are available on the same ranch if you have friends or family that would like to join you.

This Cabin has 4 Queens, 1 Queen Pullout Sofa, 1 Queen movable bed, and 15 foam mattress pads. All the linens are provided for the beds but you need to bring blankets or sleeping bags for the sleeping pads.

This property has 4 Queen(s), 1 Full(s), 4 Single(s).

Great place to get away by Brad 07/14/2020
Great place to get away. Silence and views for days. Wonderful hospitality and quick responses. Thanks for having us
Don’t think twice, book this place by Jennifer 07/14/2020
Peaceful and beautiful property with caring and thoughtful hosts. Special shout out to Marjorie for going above and beyond to help us out in a pinch. We appreciate you! Don’t think twice, book this place.
Really enjoyed the space and location! by Delbert 07/14/2020
Really enjoyed the space and location! The ping pong table was fun and we had many family tournaments! Children enjoyed the board games and puzzles. Leah was a great guard dog and even guarded us when we walked down to the tree house and pond! The fishing was amazing and tree house was a great spot to have lunch. We cooked everyday on the griddle, it is a very nice place to cook big family meals. The views were amazing but I think something everyone should do is take the scenic drive from on Buckeye Road to Buckeye Lake...AMAZING drive and many spots to explore and take pictures along the way. Tons of wildlife especially in the morning and evenings. We got lucky to see a small storm during our stay, it was beautiful...great temperature, smells of the mountain and views that you can not imagine with the clouds, rain and sunshine! I will definitely book again!
Great place for a weekend getaway by Anthony 07/14/2020
Great place for a weekend getaway. The ping pong table was a hit and the horseback rides with mountain Joe are awesome. Highly recommend both.
We enjoyed it here! by Martha 11/10/2019
We enjoyed our time at the cabin. It is about 45 minutes to Moab but our family had an amazing time together and we made some wonderful memories. We especially enjoyed fishing, time around the fire pit and star gazing - the sky is Amazing when you are out in the wilderness.
Spectacular Views by Santhosh 09/14/2019
Spectacular views, especially during sunrise and sunsets and great night sky views too. Unique decor, books and musical instruments and other artifacts. A little difficult to access the rooms downstairs for the elderly since the spiral staircase is a bit narrow and you have to watch your head. Good mid way point to Arches, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley. Delicious home made pancake mix for one breakfast. Had everything we needed to spend a full week with family and grandparents. Unique and beautiful house. Would love to go back again.
Nice and quiet place! by Teri 08/11/2019
Nice and quiet place. We went as a youth group and it was exactly what we needed.
We enjoyed our stay by Juliette 08/11/2019
The roads were very well maintained and traveling back and forth to the lodge worked out well.
We can't wait to come back! by Millicent 07/14/2019
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin in La Sal! The property was beautiful, it was easy to get a hold of the owners with any questions we had, and instructions were posted around the cabin for things we might need to know, and to make things easy. Though it felt pretty secluded, it was a little disconcerting to not have blinds on the windows of the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Other than that, our group was in love with the place by the time we left, and we would love to return for another stay!
We had so much fun here! by Lissa 07/14/2019
The location was excellent. House accommodated our family wonderfully. The Naural Bridges Park was breathtaking. The owner suggested a stream to take kids and that was so much fun.
A wonderful stress free weekend! by Jeff 07/14/2019
My wife, grandson and I stayed in cabin #5. It was honestly the most relaxing, fun weekend we have had in a long time. Very little cell or wi-fi service, which was great. Our grandson is 4 and we hiked, fished and went up a 30 foot "Tree Patio". He caught a fish every throw out and was so excited. We met the owner, Brian and he was so hospitable to us. Thanks Brian! We plan on coming back to stay at the Family Cabin that has 7 bedrooms. It has a large bonfire/campfire site. If you want to get away this is the place.
An incredibly cool place! by Maryke 07/14/2019
We were a large family group traveling in early June. We rented the main lodge and 3 cabins. It was awesome for us. Even though we wanted to explore Moab and the parks we had a hard time leaving the ranch and a couple of days we just didn’t, choosing instead to enjoy the peace on the porch with a book or a family game of horseshoes. (It is an hour drive to Moab). The owner stopped in and welcomed us and shared a little history of the houses. The main lodge has a huge industrial range that was great for cooking for a large group. The first night we were there, we couldn’t get it to work, but one quick call to Brian and he was there in like 15 minutes to get it turned on. The kids loved the loft. The dog is also so sweet. I swear the first night we said “take us to the fishing pond” and she walked us right there! I was surprised my boys didn’t try to pack her up in the car on the way out. We had no problems with power, but we were conservative. The cabins are peaceful and quiet and gave a few of the couples without kids a break from the craziness of the main house during our stay. The tree house is amazing. Brian has a real touch for building such a cool place.
Dont recommend by Luis 07/14/2019
Homeowners get in to the property when we’re not there That’s not good for privacy Over all. I don’t recommend
A truly WONDERFUL place!` by Larry and family 07/14/2019
The wolf springs ranch family cabin is AMAZING! It is an off the grid, in the mountains piece of heaven. We took 15 family members spanning 4 generations there for a four day getaway and made absolutely wonderful memories for all of us. You can easily visit all the Canyonlands/Arches attractions without the hustle and bustle of touristy Moab. The cabin itself is perfect from the abundant sleeping space, 3 porches with great views, huge flat top stove for cooking for all the family, fire pit, laying chickens to provide fresh eggs and entertain youngsters, horseshoe pit and so so much more. We met the owner, Brian, within a couple hours of arrival and visited with him every day we were there. Super host!!!Thank you so much for creating such a beautiful place. Now the absolute highlight of the stay. Our guard Lea. Lea roams the property and pops in as she wishes. She is the friendliest host I’ve ever had the pleasure of vacationing with. She loves to stop by at meal times especially and when she gives you “those” eyes you really can’t help but feed her. Oh, by the way she is 80% wolf and as I said the most wonderful host. Don’t be intimidated, she is the gentlest wolf I’ve ever met. My 1 yr old granddaughter loved her and visa versa. I very highly recommend a stay at the wolf springs ranch. Great place. I’m going back soon! Again, thank you so very much Brian and staff for creating such a wonderful place!
Great getaway, atmosphere is awesome! by Michael 12/28/2018
This is a great get-away, 45 minutes outside of Moab. When heading out there you may feel like its out in the sticks, but trust me, it is absolutely worth the drive. The family house was great. Atmosphere was awesome. It was a great place to unplug and relax.
Awesome getaway with amazing views by Bethany 12/28/2018
We had the best time staying and playing at Wolf Springs lodge. The only complaint we have was that the lodge was not stocked with paper towels, toilet paper and dish soap. It ended up being okay because we just borrowed from the cabins.
Perfectly situated lodge in beautiful forested area by Caleb and Corrine 12/28/2018
Three families including teens had a fabulous fall break weekend here. The solar wasn’t an issue we had many outlets and lights working. The beds were comfortable and plenty of heat with the gas and wood fires going. We cooked all our meals and had plenty of seating for our group of 16. Those in the small cabins enjoyed the privacy and they were all clean and up to date. Thanks again to Brian for everything!
Could have been better by Carter 10/31/2018
We had a group in the lodge and a group in one of the cabins. The group in the lodge lost power and had generator issues. Three of these individuals were on CPAPs, which created a medical liability. In addition, the propane tank was down to 5%. The owner was not responsive/timely, but Canyonlands found us better accommodations as soon as possible and refunded the guests who could not make it to the property due to heavy rain (which is rare and unavoidable).
Our group in the smaller cabin was pleased with their accommodations, but used power sparingly and brought alternate light sources due to reviews that were read. This group relocated a day later than the group in the lodge due to lack of alternate accommodations.
I feel that the owner needs to be more accountable and prepared, but we could not ask for better customer service from Canyonlands
Beautiful home! by Braddley 10/31/2018
Beautiful home and location, the stocked fishing pond was a blast for the kids. Was a morning rutien with The grandkids. Cannot go wrong with this place
Very spacious by January 09/12/2018
This place was great. Very spacious for the 5 of us that rented this cabin for a trail race. The owner Brian was phenomenal. I'd rent this cabin again!
Had a great time! by Katie 09/12/2018
Heads up: this cabin is only solar-powered and does not have consistent power. Not even to power its own fridge and nothing else, so the power comes and goes (mostly goes). Plan ahead and bring coolers. Besides that small detail, the place is awesome. The kids loved the fishing pond and treehouse, and we especially enjoyed the smaller cabins. A little heads up about the wolf-dog roaming the property would be appreciated, but Leah was a sweetheart and we loved hanging out with her. The fire pit is humongous and we loved seeing the chickens. Highly recommend slinging a hammock on the back porch and taking a nap in the desert breeze
Great, Quiet, Remote Lodge by Kenneth 09/12/2018
We had a wonderful time for our family reunion here. Large kitchen, dining and family areas. Quite a distance from most of the major canyon land attractions. We would return here for another reunion.

Friends talking and laughing in a wonderful atmosphere by Sheila 06/12/2018
We went with a group of 14 friends and couples. Initially I was a little concerned about the distance, but the entire group just loved the place and everyone was happy to be there, even with the driving. We went out during the day for the adventures, and we came back at night for BBQ, friends talking and laughing in a wonderful atmosphere. We all enjoyed the privacy, and not worrying about all the noise. We were all comfortable, and couldn’t be better. There is plenty of space for more people for sure
A great location to get away and unplug! by Andrew R 05/07/2018
This is a great location to get away and unplug. My entire group of 14 (6 adults and 8 kids) felt very comfortable in the cabin. This is not a luxurious accommodation, but it is fun, comfortable, and surrounded by incredibly beautiful landscapes. Due to scheduled activities, our group drove in to Moab every day. Driving that far every day on vacation became a little tedious, and I wish we would have spent more time at the cabin
Great for our large group trip to Moab! by Michael 04/09/2018
What a fun home away from home! We had a group of 4 families which included grandparents, teenagers, and preschoolers. This place was perfect for us. It was a comfortable drive from Arches each day and we found ourselves anxious to to return early each evening so we could have fun playing ping pong or other games, sitting around the fire, or the older kids exploring the area and sliding down the fire pole. We wanted an unplug personal experience and we sure got it even down to the optional oil lamps to light the night. Plenty of bedding was provided although we did find a couple mattresses could use updating but the available pads were easily thrown on top. The owners even stopped by offering to let the kids feed the chickens and we could gather eggs for breakfast. We will definitely be back when we have a large group return to Moab area again.
Rustic secluded cabin with beautiful view by Addison 03/19/2018
We loved the layout and flexible sleeping arrangements. The fire pole was a big hit with the kids. We lived the secluded nature and views but were surprised that you had to conserve power since it was on a solar grid. We had to use a generator to run the refrigerator in the am so we could also run the coffee maker. Also you have to chop your own firewood which my husband did not mind but others may. There is limited cell service and no wifi. We liked being off linw but be sure to download your maps ahead of time. It is centrally located to Arches and Needles area of Canyonlands. The price was great for the number of rooms and the stay was filled with good memories for our crew.

Can't wait to come back by Logan Davis 12/06/2017
Amazing place! Spacious, rustic, comfortable and just a blast. Away from tourism. Can't wait to come back to wolf springs lodge!
a beautiful lodge by Heidi Peaslee 11/08/2017
This is a great lodge off the grid (wolf springs ranch family lodge). If you want internet and phone service this is not the best place to stay. It is a beautiful lodge with lots of sleeping space, great cooking and eating areas. The lodge had plenty of board games and ping pong to help keep you entertained. We loved staying there. It is a bit out of the way if you are planning to spend most of your time in Moab or farther North. This would be a great place to stay for a family reunion where you are planning to do things closer to the lodge. The roads to the lodge are dirt and gravel so it is better to have an SUV type vehicle to get there.
a perfect base camp for exploring the area. by Joseph Dowd 10/30/2017
A fantastic cabin in a beautiful rural setting. We were looking for someplace a little off the beaten path and this place (wolf springs ranch family lodge) was perfect. Star gazing and setting by a fire in the evening. Enjoying a good book and a stunning mountain view during the day. I read other reviews about a lack of cell service and was rather looking forward to a respite from technology however my phone worked just fine. Perhaps those other people just need to change providers. This place was a perfect base camp for exploring the area.
Beautiful location and a great host by Camie Wray 09/19/2017
Beautiful location and a great host. All of our needs were met. We ran into the owner a couple times and every interaction was pleasant and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here. We stayed at wolf springs family lodge.
We loved our stay by Marci Madrigal 09/11/2017
We loved our stay at Wolf Springs! The cabin was clean, the scenery is beautiful and Jerry made it very easy.
exactly what we wanted by Tom Stephens 08/10/2017
My wife and I were looking for something off the beaten path and this was exactly what we wanted. We were able to watch the Peresid meteor shower, get away from our phones, etc. The downside is this particular cabin (not all are in the same location) really was a bit more off the path that we expected - wasn't a problem at all for us on this trip but it's worth noting for others. It was a solid 45mins outside of Moab and the dirt/gravel roads were a bit of a concern for our car when there was a bad rain storm in the area.
We loved our stay at the Family Cabin! by Chase 08/03/2017
The time there captured the spirit of adventure with close friends. I would absolutely recommend staying there, but be sure to have your 'off the grid' wits about you and too you will enjoy a vacation you won't soon forget! Jerry and the other people on the ranch were very friendly and respectful of our privicy. Between gas lanterns, a giant fire pit, astonishing views and stars you can practically touch, the lodge made for a truly one-of-a-kind expierence!
Amazing Place by Mo 07/10/2017
Amazing place for anyone looking to get out away and into the fresh air. Beautiful location, can't beat the La Sals. And watching the sun set on Big Tuk every night made the stay. The property can accommodate big and small groups, this place is a gem. I highly recommend it.

Mo’s private feedback for you:

“We had an amazing stay, thank you so much!”
Beautiful cabin with beautiful views! by Michaelyn 06/16/2017
Very secluded and beautiful area. The stars at night were gorgeous. Be prepared for no wifi and very limited cell service (at this particular cabin). We really enjoyed our stay as an extended family. Beautiful cabin with beautiful views. You'll fight over who gets the beautiful master bedroom
