Clean and very comfortable home!

Clean and very comfortable home. Loved having our Thanksgiving there rather than a hotel . Response time was quick and friendly. Felt even more comfortable staying there as we were able to bring our dogs. Grocery store and laundromat nearby was so convenient and the Thai restaurant there was great!

This place has an amazing view and is very private and quiet. We especially enjoyed spending time on the deck enjoying the view and privacy. The town is small, but friendly enough. And, it is centrally located near some of the most amazing hikes and sites we've ever experienced. It is a simple place - nothing fancy - so if you are expecting the Marriott you will be disappointed. However, if you want a good value, privacy, a fabulous view, and easy access to amazing sites and hikes you will be happy here.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. The cabin was as described, and the binder with cabin/owner history, descriptions and local recommendations made it one of the best private residence experiences I’ve ever had — in the US and abroad!

The place really does have good views. It's on the older side, along with furniture, appliances and decor. Made the house homey. They had plenty of blankets and linen throughout the house. The kids were fascinated with the decor and the memories made there. Lots of history. We enjoyed our 2 night stay

Fort Abajo is a peaceful little spot filled with treasures, stories, and thoughtful touches. We wanted for nothing during our stay and truly enjoyed the deck with its gorgeous views. The beds were comfortable with abundant linens and extra pillows for maximum coziness. We'll stay again when we return!

A great hideaway!

This is a great hideaway any time of the year! We went during the winter months and truly enjoyed the walks at the golf course in the snow. The deer ran through the yard each day, we saw turkey tracks but not the turkeys-maybe next trip 🙂 We had more than we needed as far as amenities, and the house is close to all the attractions. Very cozy home!

Great place to stay for the holidays! My family of 6 stayed for 1 night near Christmas time, and the place had some very homey lighting. Jerry provides so many blankets, and management lives nearby to answer questions. The only thing I would warn is that the basement does get chilly (especially in the common area) despite blasting the heating, (although perhaps sometimes that can’t be helped), but there are plenty of blankets stored all over the house to help combat the cold. Overall, a great stay, and a lovely home!

Directions were right on. Lots of deer. The tv should have been in the upstairs living room, the chairs upstairs were more comfortable than the futon downstairs. No heat downstairs, except the fireplace, but even that didn't heat the bedroom. The house was ok . This was my first vacation home, and I can't wait to try another one.

We were at Jerry's place for one night and thought it was a wonderful place to stay. The house was full of thoughtful items related to the owner or the town and really felt like home. We liked getting to know Blanding more, and appreciated the guidebook of nearby hikes and sights to see. Highly recommend Jerry's place!

We were on a semi-spontaneous road trip without a lot concretely planned. We booked this Fort Abajo house just one day before we arrived and were a little nervous it wouldn't be ready. It was and was sparkling clean. It's very close to town and comfortably accommodated us. We got snowed in one day and enjoyed relaxing by the fire. We primarily went to go to Bears Ears and the most well-known area with ruins was not too far away. All and all, it was a great trip. It's also a great value for the whole house!

Very spacious. Fantastic view. Far away from the neighbors. Quick response from the host. No problem finding it in the dark. There's a bedroom on each floor but only one bathroom on the main floor. Floor squeaks a little so tread lightly at night. (Hideout Ft Abajo).
Comfy little cabin with a lot of charm. The views and wildlife are amazing.

This place is amazing! You seriously cannot beat the view at the ft abajo hideout. We stayed in this beautiful cottage and drove back into Moab for the National Park, shops, etc. Don't be fooled by the distance on the map - this amazing AirBB is worth every penny, as it is located in a sleepy/quiet town and has plenty of ammenities to make your travel experience even more momemorable. Can't wait to come back!

This Hideout cabin lacks nothing. It is peaceful and has a home comfort touch. Scenery is outstanding. Mule deer and wild turkey are an every day scene. I was watching deer a hundred yards from me an then saw three more in the yard. Wish I could stay longer.

Unfortunately, we had a 7-hour delay due to an accident so we arrived late. We did use the Pin in Google maps but still had a hard time locating the house in the dark. We were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful view when we woke up in the morning. I would try to schedule your arrival earlier to find the house easier. The Hideout Ft Abajo house had everything that we needed and we were greeted by wild turkeys, stellar blue jays and lots of deer. Nice peaceful area to relax.

My boyfriend and I stayed here one night in the midst of a week of adventures across southern Utah. The check in process was a piece of cake. The place looked exactly as advertised, offering a peaceful view of the mountains from the balcony. Inside was clean, very well maintained, and offered any amenities you might want for a short or long stay. The town was very small - we were able to get anything we needed at Dollar General, and also ordered some great pizza at Wagon Wheel. We definitely want to come back here if we can! Lovely getaway in Monticello.

I'll be Back
by Christopher

Comfort and convenience is what we found at "Hideout Ft. Abajo." While many people miss an opportunity because they demand a 5 star resort for their vacations and getaways, we've learned to look for beauty in different locations. VRBO saved us from what would have been another boring weekend at home.
You can stay in the "trendy" tourist town of Moab, UT with everyone else or you can drive a little further to Monticello, UT and "get away" from the noise. Located 1 1/2 hours from Mesa Verde, Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, this little cabin in Southeast Utah is the perfect "launching pad" for day trips in all directions.
The view off the front deck is fantastic, looking out over two fairways of the local golf course toward the snow capped mountains was awesome. (The golf course wasn't open in March so that's why I titled this review "I'll be Back.") The king size bed is very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. I wished we didn't have to go downstairs to watch TV but then again, that's not a priority when traveling away from home.
Our reservation was completed on-line and the frequent email contacts with the responsive staff at Canyonlands Guest Ranch was reassuring for a successful and uneventful stay.
Thank you Kaeden and Jerry!

On a nat'l park bucket list trip. The cabin was the perfect location for our destinations and provided some peace and seclusion between Moab and the Grand Canyon. We took the train from NYC to Grand Junction then drove to Capital Reef and spent the night in Torrey. Sunday we hit Arches and then stayed two nights in Moab to see Canyonlands - Island in the Sky and Arches. Tuesday we drove to the Needles section and arrived here for two nights. Wednesday we went to Mesa Verde. well spend two nights in the GC and then head back to Utah to visit Bryce Canyon and Zion, staying three nights in another home away secluded house. Las stay is a night in Death Valley before fling home from LV. This was our first visit to UT and it's unbelievable how much space and natural beauty. Thanks for sharing your retreat. Yesterday hiking in Needles Canyonlands was great but you could see the weather was changing. The rain came in last night. This cabin was a much better place to spend a couple of rainy days than a hotel! We read, played cards, turned the fireplace on an watched the turkeys and deer! We did get out for a drive to Natural Bridges and were fortunate for a break in the rain to hike to the bridges. Like the persona nature of this cabin. Thank you! Mary and Mark.

The temp rose to 106 degrees today. It did not stop us from having eh time of our lives in Canyonlands! There is an unmatched amount of natural wonder. We explored, climbed and learned. Not only did this place teach us about history, it taught us about ourselves. I am not a thrill seeker, but eh pull of making it up Wilson arch was too strong to fight. Forever I will remember watching the sunset while sitting on top flanked by my daughter and son. We enjoyed eating and shopping in Moab as well as Arches NP. Thank you for the use of your charming home. The S. Family from Chicago.
Enjoyed our Stay

We have enjoyed our stay in Ft. Abajo and Monticello. Today we went to the Four Corners Monument and stopped along each city on the way. Our favorite city was Bluff and we visited Fort Bluff. It was important to us because our ancestors (Holyoaks) went there on the "Hole in the Rock" trail and settled in Bluff and later in Moab. We will be visiting Arches and other national parks nearby tomorrow. Unfortunately no star watching for us as there is a full moon ;( Thank you for letting us stay! Brattos and Sadomp Family.
Amazing Views

While we stayed here at the cottage we went to go see amazing views like the arches where we went hiking at night to the beautiful stars and arches. We went to go see Mesa Verde where we saw amazing houses built into the rock. Moab Utah was a really cool place to visit. It reminded me of Gatlinburg [TN] to be honest. We also went horseback riding in which we rode horses and Katelyn goa a nice sunburn. The people that were here during vacation were Michael, Mamaw, Anna, Katy, Sam, and me and Scarlett. Everything was good here, even Canyonlands was the

Welcome Relief

We've been camping our way from MA, and made this our last stop before reaching the Grand Canyon. What a welcome relief Fort Abajo has been! We had a wonderful night here, relaxing and taking the beauty from the porch. A quick storm passed over the hills and gave us a pretty lightning show. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay here! We loved inspecting the various rocks, bones, and fossils you have here. We took some fun photos and will share them at the email address provided with your instructions. Thank you! Gregg, Jennifer, Enoch.

While we stayed at Fort Abajo we visited Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. At Arches we hiked: Northand South Windows, Turret Arch Double Arch and Devils Garden to Tunnel, Pine Tree, and Landscape Arch. Then at Canyonlands we hiked: Elephant Hill to Chesler Park, and drove to see petrogypyhs, Eva, age 11. When we arrived we had LOPTS of The house was some welcome respite from our days of hiking. The house was very well maintained and full of history. Thanks for the Coffee supplies. The Yentsch Family, Chicagoland.

Really Enjoyed our Time

We only had one night in your cozy little home, but we really enjoyed our time here. The home was clean and full of fun collectibles for our boys. The house has a happy spirit with good vibes. It has a very different feel from the other vacation rentals we stayed in in the past. Most were very nice, but impersonal. I like seeing the evidence of a family's connection to the property. It is neat to see the story told through the geology and other collectibles. My family was very happy and comfortable here. If you ever decide to sell call us. Thank you, Ben and Jodi

A Good Place

We got this accommodation by chance. We stayed here - it is a good place, absolutely silent, nice view but too lonely. Food is a problem here because there are few around here. On the whole we enjoyed our stay. The Agarwals
